Record tourism in Morocco in 2026: why you should book your car early

Moroccan tourism keeps breaking records. And if you want to rent a car this winter, it pays to plan ahead. Here are the figures and what they mean for you.

Updated on 7 November 2026.

The figures to remember

  • 15.7 million tourists by the end of September 2026, up 5% on last year and more than 717,000 extra arrivals, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
  • 1.5 million tourists in September alone, up 8%.
  • In August, Morocco passed 2 million tourists in a single month for the first time.
  • In 2025, the country welcomed 19.8 million visitors, up 14%.
  • The ministry points to a goal of 26 million tourists by 2030.

Marrakech better connected than ever

  • easyJet opened its first African base at Marrakech-Menara, with three aircraft, in April 2026.
  • Morocco now has 58 easyJet routes, around thirty of them to Marrakech.
  • This winter, new routes link Marrakech to Prague (from 25 October), Zurich (from 28 October) and Newcastle (from 3 November).

More flights mean more travellers arriving in Marrakech, even in the low season.

What it means for your rental

  • The most popular cars go faster during the end-of-year holidays and long weekends: city cars, SUVs and 7-seaters are often booked first.
  • Book as soon as your flight dates are fixed to get your pick of models.
  • Final price shown before you book and free cancellation: you can secure your car without risk.
  • Free delivery to the airport, your hotel or your riad.

Our tips for a successful stay

  • Compare the final price (insurance and options included), not just the daily rate shown.
  • Pick the cover that suits your trip: the Zero risk option removes the excess.
  • Plan your excursion ahead: Agafay desert, Essaouira, Ourika valley... our guides help you choose.
